Empowering your community
Every non-profit has a story
Every non-profit has a story. A story of giving, a story of receiving, a story of challenges and overcoming, a story of impact and making a difference.
Southern Tier Tuesdays is a weekly campaign recognizing these stories in partnership with WBNG 12 News. It is a vehicle to give a voice to the amazing stories of the impact area non-profits are making in Southern Tier communities and for Southern Tier citizens. In addition, Upstate Shredding owner, Adam Weitsman, and his daughter Clover, are empowering featured organizations to transform their communities through weekly $2,000 grants. 2

Why Tuesdays?
Giving Tuesday is a nationally recognized day of giving, that started as a grass roots campaign eight years ago at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season. Since 2012, people from all over the world have given over $1 Billion to causes on Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events now being celebrated throughout the year. Southern Tier Tuesdays was inspired by Giving Tuesday stories, and hopes to instill a community mindset to Make Every Tuesday Count across the Southern Tier.
