"Never forgetting his Southern Tier roots"

About the Founder

Adam and Clover Weitsman

Many in the Southern Tier may not realize this is nothing new for Adam, his family, or their numerous family businesses. Never forgetting his Southern Tier roots, Adam has given philanthropically millions of dollars over the years. Weitsman Recycling gave over $100,000 in donations to Tioga County Church and Foodbank Charities after the flood in 2011. When opening Kreb’s in Skaneateles, Adam and his wife, Kim, pledged all profits to Women’s and Children’s charities, guaranteeing at least a $100,000 a year in proceeds. In addition, Adam personally donated a multi-million dollar Early American Stoneware collection to the New York State Museum. Of course, the many donations made without the headlines, purely made from seeing a need in the community are countless.

The energy and enthusiasm from recent Boys and Girls Club donations in celebration of the Syracuse University win against Duke garnered a great deal of media and social coverage. It also moved Adam to realize that there wasn’t a local vehicle to share the on-going needs of organizations throughout the Southern Tier. In addition to funding needs, their amazing stories of impact needed a voice. Thus, Adam chose to proceed in making a tangible, ongoing difference for area non-profits through Southern Tier Tuesdays supported by Upstate Shredding. Not only is Upstate Shredding offering a weekly $2,000 grant to help with organizational efforts, they have partnered with WBNG News 12 to help these non-profits tell their stories through weekly features on Around the Tiers.
